RUSAL starts digestion train, raises alumina output by 130,000 tns
MOSCOW, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL has launched a 1.1 billion ruble digestion train at subsidiary Urals Aluminum Smelter (UAZ), which will allow the plant to raise alumina production by 130,000 tonnes a year to 900,000 tonnes, the company said in a statement on Friday.
“New equipment will increase the safety and energy efficiency of the production process resulting in cost reductions of alumina. The construction of the new digestion train lasted two years and became a major investment project within UAZ‘s refinery 1.5 billion ruble modernization program,” the company said.
“During the course of the modernization of our production sites, we have introduced up-to-date technologies and equipment. It is important to notice that the commissioned digester primarily consists of equipment that has been designed and made in Russia and as such, surpasses its foreign counterparts,” the company said citing CEO Vladislav Solovyov.
